Cultural context influencing cuffs is the gender equality campaign run by Emma Watson in 2014 which is trying to stop the stereotype of women being inferior than men cuffs have used counter-type and have formed women in high roles as superintendent she is portrayed as smart and informative and therefore the stereotype of women has influenced cuffs. Another way gender equality has influenced cuffs is that high ranked officers are men and women and they are working at the same level to promote equality between genders
Explain how social context influence television programmes. Refer to cuffs from 2010's to support your answer (10)
In the year 2015 society saw a rise in multicultural talent that was winning mainstream audiences this has affected cuffs as they have a diverse cast and one of the leading characters Ryan is a black police man who is working same level as white man Jake. this also weakens the stereotype of people of different ethnicities being the criminals or working at a lower level to white people. The show has a multicultural cast to show that racial diversity is included and it's an accurate reflection on how society has changed and how it can include a wider audience. Ryan's character is a counter-type of the roles portrayed by black males as a police officer its is a positive role of authority. This suggests that the show doesn't discriminate people of different ethnicities and that the rise of multicultural talent has influenced cuffs to attract a wide audience
In the year 2014 Emma Watson lunches HeForShe campaign which calls for men to support gender equality this has influenced cuffs as they have powerful women such as Misha who has the same opportunities as the male officers e.g Jake and Ryan that are woking same level furthermore cuffs have jo who is ranked higher than Ryan as she is a detective which shows cuffs have been influenced by HeForShe and have decided to give the male and females equal roles this also counters the stereotype of women staying as home and that they cant do the same jobs as men. The show uses gender equality to show that we don't live in a patriarchal world and that women can do the same jobs as men and to entice a wider audience.
