This could be involved in news, magazines, tv programs, films etc.
This includes representation of people, places, events.
Research task
- Stereotypes- reducing people into an obscure group
- counter-type-A type (of person) that opposes and contrasts with the stereotype
- dominant representation- is one which is repeated across the media over time
- mediation- how media deliberately represent people/ group on how they want people to view them. in the middle of reality and representation
- construction- build the idea of something (person/place/event)
- conform- representations which are the same as the dominant representation conform to the stereotype
- challenge- representations which are different from the dominant representation challenge the stereotype
